Clearing Cache in Web Browsers

This guide is designed for users who have access to a web browser and are encountering web pages not loading correctly or blank spots.


Warning
clearing the cache will log you out of some websites and may remove saved passwords


Clearing Cache in Google Chrome

1. Open Google Chrome: Click on the Chrome icon on your desktop or taskbar to open the browser.
2. Access Settings: In the top-right corner, you’ll see three vertical dots (). Click on them to open the menu.
3. Go to Settings: From the menu, select “Settings."
4. Clear Browsing Data: Under the “Privacy and Security” section, click on “Clear browsing data.”
5. Choose What to Clear: You’ll see a list of items to clear. Make sure “Cached images and files” is selected.
6. Clear Data: Click on the “Clear data” button. This will clear the cache.

Clearing Cache in Microsoft Edge

1. Open Microsoft Edge: Click on the Microsoft Edge icon on your desktop or taskbar.
2. Access Settings: In the top-right corner, you’ll see three horizontal dots (…). Click on them to open the menu.
3. Go to Settings: Scroll down and click on “Settings.”
4. Privacy, Search, and Services: On the left sidebar, select “Privacy, search, and services.”
5. Choose What to Clear: Under “Clear browsing data,” click on “Choose what to clear.”
6. Select What to Clear: Ensure that “Cached images and files” is checked.
7. Clear: Click the “Clear” button to clear the cache.

Clearing Cache in Mozilla Firefox

1. Open Mozilla Firefox: Click on the Firefox icon on your desktop or taskbar.
2. Access Settings: In the top-right corner, you’ll see three horizontal lines (≡). Click on them to open the menu.
3. Go to Options: From the menu, select “Options.”
4. Privacy & Security: On the left sidebar, select “Privacy & Security.”
5. Clear Data: Under the “Cookies and Site Data” section, click on “Clear Data.”
6. Select What to Clear: Make sure both “Cookies” and “Cached Web Content” are selected.
7. Clear: Click the “Clear” button to clear the cache.

After clearing the cache, it is best to reload the page you were having trouble with or restart your web browser all together.
