This article goes over how to physically replace a failed storage drive on an Openeye recorder

Replacing a Failed Storage Drive

AlertBe sure the unit is disconnected from any power source. 


Open the chassis to expose the internal components.

Remove the screws from both sides, bottom lip, and top-back. 
Should be a total of 5 screws.
Slide the cover towards the front of the NVR to remove.

Locate & remove the affected drive. 

Disconnect the drive & plate from the chassis by removing the 4 screws on the plate

 

Remove the drive and plate by sliding away from the SATA connection to the motherboard.


Remove the drive from the plate by removing the 4 screws on the bottom.


Install the replacement hard drive

Reverse the directions from the previous step
Connect drive to plate with 4 screws
Slide the drive and plate into SATA port on motherboard
Attach plate back to chassis with 4 screws

Close the chassis

Slide back on cover.
Alert
Make sure to align with power button and hole in cover to not damage the power button
Screw back in 5 small black screws

Reconnect power cable and power on the unit.

The OS should automatically see the drive and mount it as a storage drive.

Enable drive

navigate to System Settings > Storage > enable storage drive by checking the box > click the orange Save button at the bottom right.

You can accomplish this through ows.openeye.net using your email and password you set up for your account
