How to Manually Switch to LTE Backup Internet

How to Manually Switch to LTE Backup Internet

On rare occasions, your firewall may not be able to automatically switch to LTE backup internet. Only follow these after reading this article and determining that you are truly offline.

  1. Locate your SonicWall firewall. You may have 1 of 2 options:

    1. TZ400 (for older locations)

    2. TZ370 (for newer locations)

  2. On the back of the SonicWall, there should be an array of color-coded cables plugged in. We are looking for the blue cable (plugged into the port marked X1), which should be connected to your ISP's modem (ie Comcast, AT&T, Spectrum, Frontier, etc).

    1. Back of a TZ400

    2. Back of a TZ370

  3. To force the SonicWall to utilize LTE backup internet, unplug the blue cable (connected to the port marked X1) that you identified in step 2.

  4. Open an internet browser and search "what is my IP?". If it returns an IP address beginning with 216, you are officially utilizing LTE backup internet.
It is critical to contact Zenxeon support to confirm LTE usage and to perform basic troubleshooting steps. This "lifeline" service is offered at no cost.
