Setting up MFA with Microsoft Authenticator App

This guide is for email accounts that are hosted with Zenxeon.

Setting up MFA for the first time

Navigate to https://www.office.com/

Select Sign In. User your current email and password.

Once you have entered your password, you will get a notification about keeping your account secure

Download the Microsoft Authenticator app from your phone app store.

Make sure you download the one created by Microsoft Corporation

If you already have an Authenticator app you can try to use that. The app has to support OATH TOTP.

Other apps that are known to work are Google Authenticator or LastPass Authenticator

App is installed and open.

hit next on your computer screen.

Then hit the plus sign in the upper right corner on your cell phone screen

                                                               

  

Scan the QR Code

A QR Code will come up on your computer screen. 

On your phone it will ask if this account for personal, work or school, or other. Please select 'work or school account', then select Scan QR code.

                                                    

Test the app

On the computer screen it will give you a 2 digit number to enter on your app. Enter that number on the app to verify.

                                           

It will ask you for MFA when you are logging into a new device or your IP changes if you use a laptop.

You may have to re-enter your password in your Outlook apps after setting the MFA up.
