How to Check and Install Windows Updates for Windows 10 and 11 to Boost Performance

Regularly updating your Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer can significantly enhance its processing performance. Here's how:


Note: This guide is designed for users who have access to a front counter Windows Surface Pro or a front counter/office Dell OptiPlex desktop as their primary Wax Center workstation.

1. Check for Updates:
  - Updated software often includes performance improvements and bug fixes.

2. Install Updates:
  - Installing these updates ensures your computer runs at its best.

3. Reboot Your Computer:
  - A restart after updates can optimize performance.

4. Repeat Regularly:
  - Consistent updates keep your computer fast and efficient.

Keep your system up to date for a faster, smoother experience.

Where to find Windows Update in Windows 10
1. Hit the Start Menu at the bottom left of your screen, and select the cog wheel for Settings


2. the Windows Settings menu opens up, select Update & Security


3. Windows should automatically check for the latest updates and those will be listed out to download and install. You can force it to check for updates by selecting the Check for updates button.
      There could be optional updates that includes for Microsoft product updates (i.e. Microsoft Office Apps)


4. Once the updates are downloaded and installed, it will ask if you want to restart now or later.
IF you restart now, please save all work before clicking restart now.

If you want to restart later, it will restart after your active hours. You can check those by scrolling down in the Windows Update screen, select Change active hours.


5. On the next screen it will let you change those hours to suit your business needs.


Where to find Windows Update in Windows 11
1. Start menu is more centralized on your toolbar, and Settings should be in your pinned apps


2.  You can access your updates on the left side menu or at the top where it says Windows Update


3. The updates work the same as in Windows 10. To find your active hours, select Advanced options.

 
Then hit the drop down for active hours
