Verifone Credit Card Readers Not Connected to Network

Verifone Credit Card Readers Not Connected to Network

This guide is designed for users who have access to functional Ethernet cables and an internal WiFi network.

Troubleshooting Ethernet Connected Devices

For P400+

Check Cable Connections

      - Trace the cable coming out of the back of the credit card reader until it comes to a dongle. There should be 2 cables connected to that dongle:
            - The smaller circular one is for power. The other end should go into a known working power outlet
You can try rebooting your reader by unplugging the power adapter from the dongle or the wall outlet for 10 seconds, then plug it back in. Sometimes a simple power cycle will help get it reconnected
            - The internet cable is an Ethernet cable that should run into a network port on your wall or on a small switch. Confirm these connections are clicked all the way in.
The Ethernet cable should be plugged into the ETH port of the dongle

      - You should see a double sided arrow on your credit card reader screen. This indicates the reader has a network connection.

If you see the arrows and a cloud on the screen and have rebooted the device, it may be best to reach out to your point of sale provider for further troubleshooting.

Troubleshooting Wireless Connection with a Specific SSID:

For V400M

Check for network icons
      - You should see a WiFi and cloud icon in the upper right corner

      - Ensure that the Wi-Fi SSID you intend to connect to is correct and available.
      - Double-check the SSID's name and password.
Check that other devices are able to connect to the same network to ensure its functionality.

Restart your reader

      - You can unplug the power cable from your card reader if it has one. If it is fully wireless, you will need to follow these directions
            - Press the 9 and GREEN circle button together
            - Collect the admin pin from a manager or owner
            - Scroll down to Power off
After powered off for 20 seconds, you'll need to hold down the GREEN button for a few seconds to power it back up.

Forget and Reconnect

      - Press the 9 and then the GREEN circle button to get to the reader
      - Select WiFi
      - Select the info ( i ) button beside the WiFi the reader is connected to
      - Select the trash icon to remove the WiFi from the preferred connection
      - After the WiFi has been removed it will take you back to the main WiFi menu. Select the blue circle ( + ) button in the lower right corner
      - Select the WiFi you wish to connect to and re-enter the correct password for the specific WiFI

By following these steps, you can resolve common network connectivity issues with your credit card reader. Whether you're using an Ethernet connection or a Wi-Fi connection, these troubleshooting steps should help ensure a smooth and reliable connection.

If you continue to experience issues, don't hesitate to reach out to your point of sale provider for further troubleshooting steps
